Villasalmendros, accommodates guests comfortably. Each cabin has single beds. Shopping is available in Santa Teresa de Cóbano, with fresh fruits and vegetables arriving by truck several times a week. Santa Teresa de Cóbano has a variety of good local restaurants. Tours of the area can be made to Tortuga Island, Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, Mal Pais, Montezuma and surrounding communities.

You can travel to the Villasalmendros with a rented vehicle, fly by air into Tambor, or via public transportation. Budget rent a car has an office right in downtown Santa Teresa if you would like to Rent a car after you fly in. If you drive from San Jose total trip may take 5 to 7 hours depending  if you catch the ferry or have to wait on line for a spot.

To drive there, a four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. The trip starts with a drive west from San José to Puntarenas, where a car ferry crosses the Gulf of Nicoya to Paquera. From Paquera, Santa Teresa de Cóbano is about 1 hour and 10 minutes away.

Air travel is available from San José to Tambor on Travelair from Pavas or on Sansa Airlines (Inter) located in the domestic terminal of Juan Santamaría Airport. Roundtrip flight reservations and ticketing should be prearranged as frequency and availability of flights vary. From Tambor taxi services are available.

Traveling by public transportation begins with a bus ride from San José to Puntarenas (two hours). From Puntarenas a passenger ferry is available to Paquera (1 hour 15 minutes) where another bus provides transportation to Santa Teresa. Private taxis are also available to Santa Teresa de Cóbano from Paquera ferry landing.

The road is paved until you reach Tambor, about half the distance, as its winds along the southernmost tip of the peninsula through coastal foothills and farmlands.
